TNA Opens First Eastern Flagship Boutique in Toronto Eaton Centre

There are so many TNA lovers on ChickAdvisor that when this popped in our mailbox we had to share:

TNA, Canada’s leading lifestyle apparel brand that fuses function with a ton of cool style has landed on the East Coast… finally! TNA’s very first flagship boutique east of Vancouver, will be arriving soon at Toronto Eaton Centre. Doors open early afternoon on Saturday, December 6th.

Nestled in between Abercrombie and the Sony store on Level 1, the new TNA boutique in Toronto Eaton Centre brings with it TNA’s laid back and woodsy West Coast style. A design inspired by a sheltered log cabin (out East you call it “cottage”, right?); it’s the brand’s largest store to date – 2,700 square feet of TNA goodness.

Since 1998, TNA has been Vancouver’s answer to fashion and function. The brand thrives on the details that make its North West Coast culture unique – the freshest of fresh powder, the perfect wave and the mountain city that is so close to it all. But, Toronto has never been far from TNA’s heart. TNA has found its way into closets of young women all across the country. The line, which is exclusively carried at Aritzia, is excited to spread its wings and open the doors of its first Eastern boutique.

TNA’s open store concept highlights surreal nature-based photography, custom-made animal creatures and an amazing hand painted mural done by TNA’s very own in-house artists. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, a custom in-store TNA photo booth lets you record moments and share with your friends both near and far.

Looking for your favorite TNA item? Look no further. The new Toronto store will be stacked with every color of every style from the brand’s Winter 2008 collection. Think parkas, hoodies, a range of must-have flannel checkered shirts, accessories, bags and so much more. TNA fans will also rejoice with the large selection of exclusive items never seen before at Aritzia.

With a new store, also comes the launch of TNA’s Artist Series. “The Artist Series is our way of capturing and musing with the artists, innovators and riders who inspire us to create the styles we live, work and play in,” says Toni Marevic, TNA’s Senior Clothing Designer. For Winter 2008, TNA chose to collaborate with Vancouver-based artist, Julia Feyrer. The Eaton Centre boutique will be one of the only stores in Canada to carry the entire Artist Series collection including three exclusive got-to-have pieces: a printed hoodie, tee and a canvas tote.

Mark your calendars, Toronto… Saturday, December 6th is TNA – Totally New Awesomeness. Pass it on! (Editor's note: Is that really what TNA stands for???)

"Living Proof" starring Harry Connick Jr.

"Toxic Bust"

Some extra information from their Press Release:

The Breast Fest Film Festival will showcase the many issues surrounding breast cancer in a meaningful and accessible way, connecting people to each other and to the breast cancer cause.
"So many people are touched by breast cancer, but each person's experience is very different, resulting in a wide range of needs that are not always met through traditional support and education options," said Alison Gordon, vice-president, Rethink. "The stars of the Breast Fest Film Festival are the women and men who have shared their stories, through which we hope to
engage and connect people, and encourage them to think differently about breast cancer."

The Breast Fest Film Festival will showcase films that span the emotional spectrum of the disease, using the expressive and creative powers of film to engage and educate audiences. Some films will also be followed by panel discussions or question and answer sessions with film directors. The opening night of the festival will feature the Canadian premiere of Living Proof, the story of one of the most important breast cancer research breakthroughs of our time. On Saturday night, the Amazing Grace award, created in memory of Grace Cianciotta, a well-known member of the Canadian film community, will be presented to the winner of the Breast Fest Film Festival short film competition.

Living Proof underscores the importance of breast cancer research while telling the true story of Dr. Dennis Slamon, the UCLA doctor who helped develop the breast cancer drug, Herceptin. The film stars Harry Connick Jr. and a star-studded cast including Emmy(R) winner Tammy Blanchard ("Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows"), Amanda Bynes ("Hairspray"), Jennifer Coolidge ("American Pie"), Angie Harmon ("Women's Murder Club"), John Benjamin Hickey ("Flags of Our Fathers"), Regina King ("Ray"), Emmy(R) and Tony(R) winner Swoosie Kurtz ("Pushing Daisies"), Paula Cale Lisbe ("Providence"), Golden Globe(R) winner Amy Madigan ("Pollock"), Tony(R) winner Bernadette Peters ("Boston Legal") and Trudie Styler ("Empire"). Living Proof is executive produced by Renée Zellweger, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron ("Chicago," "Hairspray") and screenwriter Vivienne Radkoff ("Tempted," "The Agency").

Mattel FashionWeek?

Photo cred: Getty Images

The return of Barbie as a major player in the pink 'n purple aisles of toy stores worldwide shouldn't have been a big surprise - after all, she's in good company with Strawberry Shortcake and the Cabbage Patch Kids making similar comebacks in the last few years.

BUT - are you ready for Big B to make her presence felt during FashionWeek? According to some people in the know, Mattel will be sponsoring New York FashionWeek for the next three years.

"But wait, there's more...."

Soon to follow will be couture Barbie for me 'n you (remember the matching necklaces we used to get in the box? Yeah, that's sooo last century), boutique stores worldwide (they already have them in Asia), and a signature makeup line that'll go by the eye-rolling moniker of Plastic Smooth.

What does this mean to the modern woman? Are we ready to accept what is the logical progression of the fashion industry that, let's be honest now, we justify their anorexia-lovin', body-image-skewing ways in the name of art? Or do we boycott the stuff for the sake of feminism?

What do you think?

Weekend Movie Recommendation: Forgetting Sarah Marshall

This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Really genuinely funny, not stupid funny. Jason Segal wrote and stars in it, which I didn't realize until the credits. Love it! Also starring Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis. I watched all of the special features too. It was just that good.
