Bubbly bunny is so right! Students always need any sort of furniture, especially mattresses! My friend just had to blow big bucks on a mattress at some furniture store for school and I'm looking for chairs for the dining room.

I wouldn't pay $25 for the city or $100 to "donate" to landfill. :P Call me cheap but seriously...it doesn't seem right to ask people to "donate" a can of tomatoes and then ask them to give you $2 in order for you to accept the "donation".

I'd go on the university classifies and sell your stuff for cheap (or for free). Specify if they want it, they'll have to come pick it up from your place. Being so close to the beginning of the school year, a lot of students will probably start looking for furniture. I sold my mattress on the university classifieds very quickly and it was no hassle. I'd rather benefit some poor university students than giving the city or the landfill money. :P

That's a tough one! I'd probably put it up for free on Craigslist for however long it'd take to go, but then I have the space to store stuff - and I know many people don't have that luxury.

Anyone who has a friend with a pickup truck might consider asking them to deliver it to the charity for the reward of some fresh chocolate chip cookies!
