We always cite our sources, usually in the form of hyperlinks; in the case of this article, most of the information came from wikipedia.

With specific reference to Reiki, I found many sources, including www.reiki.org that stated Reiki is of Japanese origin. Certainly, this type of modality is part of many traditions including Christian healing rituals, but I referenced the Japanese background as the most familiar.

This list is not intended to give a full picture of any of the therapies mentioned, nor are we endorsing or debunking any of them. As you may notice, each of the therapies have pros and cons mentioned. The "quackery" aspect is not meant to be offensive, but as a general term (in general usage) that means it is not considered "real" medicine. Any practice that uses a spirituality-based concept is considered to be "quackery" by many mainstream physicians, including the practice of praying for healing.

Hope this addresses your concerns! It's good to hear both sides of any debate, and your positive review of Reiki helps put this discussion in context.

Your information is really a little bit sketchy. ....

Your information is really a little bit sketchy. . .especially about Reiki. It is not Japanese, but has always existed everywhere! It was re-discovered and popularized by Dr. Usui, of Japan in the mid 1800s. It is not considered quackery. On the contrary, there are hospitals that are paying for their nurses to become Reiki certified in order to use this healing modality on patients who have pain, stress related to surgery, chemotherapy treatment, etc. P.S. You ought to cite some sources for your information.
